BBC1's This Week at Grand Union Pets

The Sun's political correspondent Jane Moore - with dog Jasper - came to the salon recently to film a round-up of the political week. The piece aired on BBC1's This Week, the political news show hosted by Andrew Neil, joined by Michael Portillo and Diane Abbott. Why a grooming salon for the week in politics? It started with mention of the Home Secretary Alan Johnson's proposals to introduce a new pet tax. But it quickly moved on from there into the bigger issues of the day, like immigration, serious crime, the recession and more. As you might expect, Jane Moore couldn't resist punning throughout - Jack Straw is 'resolutely muzzled'; a raucous Prime Minister's Questions involved plenty of 'barking and whining' and Speaker Bercow tried to bring the members 'to heel'.

Grand Union Pets at film premiere in Leicester Square

London’s Leicester Square was barking mad recently for the film premiere of Open Season 2, distributed by Sony Pictures. Co-hosted by Grand Union Pets, the red carpet was rolled out for celebrities and their pets including Gail Porter, Julian Bennett (with Dachshund Lulu), Su-Elise Nash with her cavalier, Nikki Graeme with her pooches among others. The Blue Peter dogs Lucy and Mabel also showed up – with their own film crew.
